Jalen Blot is an NAACP Image Award-nominated director whose work explores intimacy, identity, and the emotional complexity of human connection. A Haitian-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles, Blot is known for character-driven stories based in grief in search of whimsy.

His short film Before You Let Go, executive produced by ColorCreative/Issa Rae, was nominated for a 2026 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Short Form, Live Action, and selected for the Pan African Film Festival, BronzeLens Film Festival, Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, S.E. Manly African American Short Film Showcase, and Reel Black Men Short Film Showcase. He also directed the pilot episode of The Comic Shop Series, an official selection of the ABFF Series Competition.

Blot’s work also includes the short film trilogy Everything We Left Unsaid — Why We Try, Why We Lie, and Why We Love — as well as Colors of Sankofa, which screened at the Pan African Film Festival and was named a semi-finalist in the AT&T SHAPE Competition. He is a 2024 ColorCreative Find Your People Directing Fellow and a Commercial Directors Diversity Program Semi-Finalist.
